A Festival's Journey to the Catskills
The Callicoon Theater and Western Hotel in Callicoon, NY will birth the start of a new chapter for the area and arts community by housing the Catskill International Film Festival (CIFF). Nestled in the world renowned Catskill Mountains and within driving distance of New York City, the Callicoon Theater is the perfect film venue. CIFF intends to showcase the best talent the Catskills and the world has to offer, these talented artists will be given a platform to gain exposure and the promotion they rightfully deserve while celebrating the arts together and having an incredible time.
The Catskill International Film Festival is passionate about promoting quality independent films, television pilots, and screenplays from filmmakers around the world. The festival competition is judged on professionalism, talent, technique, creativity, and originality where only the best receive the grand prize. CIFF is a star-studded event that celebrates an interactive and contemporary experience which will inspire, challenge, and enlighten viewers and participants alike. Filmmakers from all over the world are welcome to submit feature films, shorts, pilots, music videos, animations, and more! The festival is a haven for free-thinkers, innovators, and pioneers of the arts community. Attendees will walk the red carpet, attend after-parties with live entertainment, view award-winning independent films, enjoy a variety of events such as film seminars, and meet with filmmakers, stars, and models during an unforgettable weekend.
Unique to this festival will be the addition of a special one day CIFF preview event for charity which will occur July 28th at Sullivan County Community College. The free event will feature live music, networking, hors d'oeuvres, and early accepted films and trailers which will be viewed in the theater in front of eager audiences approximately six weeks before the official 3 day Catskill International Film Festival in September.
For the past 3 years, Charles Marinaro (CIFF President) was the hands-on President of the Hudson Valley International Film Festival; thousands of attendees came throughout the annual weekends with some well-known celebrities in attendance. In only a few short years the festival would gain recognition as one of the top 3 biggest festivals in the area. With that accomplishment it was time for the Catskills to get more involved and shine a spotlight on all the bright talent it has to offer. The Catskills hold a world renowned history with incredible events such as Woodstock among many others and now it brings the Catskill International Film Festival to the world.
